Oneworld member, Malaysia Airlines, has unveiled its newAirbus A330neo Business and Economy Class seats as part of its fleet modernisation plan.

The first aircraft’s scheduled delivery is aimed for the third quarter of 2024, with a total of 20 aircraft on order, while it will be fitted to the carrier’s long-range Airbus A350 fleet from early 2026.

With many new features on the A330neo Business Class cabins, there are a series of ‘firsts’ for the airline, such as individual privacy doors in Business Class.

It will be built around Collins Aerospace’s Elevation platform, one which is also used in Club Suites Business Class by British Airways, and the Etihad Airways A350 Business Studio Suite.

The seat will deliver more personal space and creature comforts compared to Malaysia Airlines’ current twin-aisle Business Class. There will also be larger video screens, USB-C power and wireless charging.

The cabin interior aims to reduce inflight noise, increased personal space and upsizes to the overhead luggage bins. Opting for the Recaro CL3810 seat model promising an ergonomic design and enhanced support, it also comes with thoughtful amenities such as a coat hook and cup storage.

The A330neo jets will replace the airline’s A330’s, which currently dominate the routes across Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East. It has been confirmed that the A330neo’s first route will be between Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, beginning in November 2024.
