Adding a Stopover to Earn Additional Qantas Status Credits

Flexibility is one of the most important factors when it comes to earning additional Qantas Status Credits. Since Oman Air does not fly out of Australia, it’s necessary to be doing at least two stops on your way to Europe- one in Asia, and one in Muscat.

Some of the most popular Asian gateways for this deal are Jakarta and Manilla because of its really good discount Business Class inventory. You should use these if you’re flying ex. Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane as you’ll still earn 120 status credits per segment. Bangkok is also good but it’s a little harder to get availability, so make sure you are booking far in advance to secure a spot.

A great way to earn additional Qantas Status Credits is to add another stopover. Including a second Asian stopover in Singapore, Hong Kong or Tokyo, for example, can provide an additional 40-100 status credits per direction. Most of these Asian gateways are then about 6-7 hours to the airline’s hub in Muscat. So why not take the opportunity to visit multiple Asian cities in one trip? Not only will it break up the trip a bit, but you’ll earn a decent amount of Status Credits while doing so.

Furthermore, there are some exciting new multi-stop fares if you want to do something a bit more left field with extra flying. We would recommend reaching out to our airfare specialists if you do need to accrue a lot of Qantas Status Credits!

Route Option with Oman Air

Upgrading Your Flight

There has been a trend for airlines who have removed First Class to replace it with a Business “Plus” style product. Oman Air has done just that by introducing its ‘Business Studio’ product as a step up from their standard Business product, straddling the line between Business Class and First Class. It’s basically like getting a First Class product (in terms of seat design) at a really attractive price point.

Consider upgrading your flight to the ‘Business Studio’ suite on select flights. You’ll accrue ‘First’ Status Credits on those segments and enjoy a little extra luxury. For example, between Bangkok and Muscat, a normal ‘Business’ fare would get you 100 Status Credits. But upgrading to the ‘First’ fare level will bump it up to 150 Status Credits. Combining other sectors with QF flights (whether in ‘Business’ or ‘First’) may just be what gets you across the line from Silver to Gold.

For example, from Sydney - Bangkok (Qantas) - Muscat (Oman Air ‘First’) - Milan (Oman Air) = 660 Status Credits return.

Upgrading for a small premium is a great way to maximise your Qantas Status Credits and enjoy a sector in utmost luxury. Oman Air’s new ‘Business Studio’ suite is designed with extra tall, soft closing sliding doors to ensure absolute privacy. Centre seats also enjoy adjustable dividers at the touch of a button. Adjust your leg rest, seat cushion, backrest, lumbar or pan your seat forward and back just the way you like. You can also save them into the memory function for use at a later stage of your flight. It’s really on par with other First Class seat designs we see on the market, but for great-value.

Adding QF Domestic Flights

Finally, you can maximise your Qantas Status Credits with Oman Air by booking QF domestic flights. For a small premium and on select routes, add another domestic stopover to earn maybe another 40+ Status Credits per domestic flight.

For example, fly from Melbourne to Sydney with Qantas before beginning the journey similar to our example mentioned before. Or from Adelaide to Sydney, you'll get an extra 40 Status Credits one way.

If your schedule allows, incorporating a QF domestic flight into your itinerary is an effective way to maximise your Qantas Status Credits. When travelling to another Australian city to connect with your preferred route, consider opting for Qantas over low-cost alternatives such as Jetstar. Even if it comes at a slight premium- the additional Status Credits can be well worth the investment.
