Base status credits is for Melbourne - Hong return, extending on to other destinations will maximise status credits. For example, Sydney – Hong Kong – Delhi return achieves 280 status credits. Flying to Hong Kong only attracts a premium, we suggest to continue on to China where there is more competition and pricing is lower. Even if you stopped over in Hong Kong as your main stay you could fly Hong Kong-China-Hong Kong with a short  transit and achieve a significant cash saving and add extra status credits.
