Qantas & American Airlines Improved Frequent Flyer Benefits

Thu, 10 Oct 2019

The Qantas and American Airlines agreement just got even better for Qantas Frequent Flyer members, with significantly improved frequent flyer benefits including higher earn rates for points and status credits.

Thanks to the new codeshare agreement, Qantas passengers can now access over 50 new routes and almost 30 new destinations across North America using the American Airlines network.

Additionally, Qantas Frequent Flyer members will receive the following benefits:

  • Earn up to 3.5 times more Qantas Points on American Airlines flights between Australia and the United States. For example, Qantas Frequent Flyers travelling from Sydney to Los Angeles in Economy may now earn 4,500 Qantas Points, up from 1,875 Qantas Points previously in certain fare classes.
  • Earn up to 5 times more Status Credits on American Airlines flights between Australia and the United States. For example, Qantas Frequent Flyers travelling from Sydney to Los Angeles in Economy may now earn 90 Status Credits, up from 20 Status Credits previously in certain fare classes.
  • Earn up to 4 times more Status Credits on American Airlines flights for travel within the United States/Canada.
  • Use Qantas Points for Classic Flights Rewards on American Airlines flights in Premium Economy for the first time, in addition to Economy, Business and First Class.

In short, Qantas Frequent Flyers will now earn as many points when they travel to the US with American Airlines as they do when they travel with Qantas.
